Color:Story [Literary:Visual::Words:Art] is a Houston-based Community/Visual Art/Literary event - a visual art and written word collaborative.
Color:Story 2019 highlighted local Houston-area poets and writers and opened in Houston on January 12th with a dynamic reading/poetry slam and the largest crowd its exhibition gallery had ever seen. Color:Story 2020 will be an exhibition featuring poets from Houston and beyond.
We are Color:Story 's creators, Houston-based artists Leslie Gaworecki and Marlo Saucedo. Leslie's freely-formed art is emotion, light and color, while Marlo's detailed pieces combine message and precision.
Color:Story 2020 opens in Houston in the fall of 2020.
Every piece in the Color:Story 2020 exhibition will be collaborative work. Each piece will be the visual representation of one poet's words. We and select other artists will create our own pieces separately, and create some pieces together combining our artistic styles.
Pieces will be for sale at the fall 2020 exhibition. You will receive 10% of the sale of the piece, or a professional giclee print of the work your words inspired - your choice. We understand that permission will be granted to use your work only for the purposes of Color:Story 2020. We will not use or publish your work online or anywhere outside of this exhibition.
Chosen poets will be the center and the focus of the Opening in the fall of 2020. Exact date and venue TBA. We prefer that chosen poets travel to perform or read their work as a part of the opening event in Houston, if possible.
For this year's Color:Story exhibition, we are focusing specifically on poetry. We are looking for poetry which uplifts, motivates, inspires, captures the human condition, and sends a positive message.
Previously published work is fine to submit with credit. Rights must have reverted back to the author.
You may upload 4 poems for consideration. Please upload them as one document.
